Last Human: Episode 6 (Devlog 4)
Hello everyone! My apologies on the delay between devlogs. I've had a lot going on the last few weeks. Anyway, in this devlog, we'll cover where we are on Last Human: Episode 6 development and the latest info on the new 'Camilla' project I am working on.
First, Last Human: Episode 6 - I'm right around halfway through the rendering and animations process. I ran into an obstacle on 2 of my scenes which has had me at a slowdown. Trying to get a map (scene) fixed and having issues with it displaying like it should. I think I've narrowed down the problem for one, but I may need to find the original map for the other, and that is a task because it's an older map. I don't like the idea of 'settling' for a replacement that doesn't look as nice so I'm skipping it for now and moving on. Hopefully, by the time I can circle back to that, I will have found it.
A little while back, I experimented with a song that was created with AI. It was a neat song. I even wrote the lyrics for it. But ultimately, I've decided not to venture into any AI for any of my projects, ever. After giving it a lot of thought, it just feels much better finding licensed music by artists that can be credited. It's more difficult finding the right song, but I feel better knowing that I went out there and tracked down something that fits my game/scene/event and I paid to make use of it. And yes, getting music can get expensive when it's me because it has to fit the scene. There are times of course where I just want some 'general' background music and those situations are pretty easy. But there are other situations where there are emotions, characters with certain expressions and poses... and the music needs to tie it all together so that you "FEEL" the scene, not just read it. This has always been important to me. I failed at this a bit early in Serenity Chapter 1; too many empty spaces where there could be music. Granted, I still have some empty spaces, but a few here and there are okay (for me anyway).
Camilla Development - Every now and then when I am in between work on LH, I am writing/perfecting my Camilla story. Each episode I release for both Serenity Chapter 2 and Last Human usually average around 1200 to 1500 images (plus animations). The first episode of Camilla will have nearly 2000 images, plus animations. These will be long episodes, so each release will take longer to make, but you'll get a lot more content to soak in. Of course, there is also the fact that you will be able to enable or disable lewd interactions with a few of the characters at certain points in the game. This will be the case for all 'side' girls... not for Camilla. Her scenes will be unavoidable of course. As for the number of side girls, that is still up in the air. Currently, there are only 2 besides Camilla. But there may be up to 2 more. I don't want to have too many, so my plan is to limit that to keep the story more focused and give us more time with each character. This game will have a serious focus on character development, and each will have such distinct personalities, you'll be able to tell who is talking without even looking at the name (once you've gotten to know them a bit).
I did promise more special render sets to come. I'll try to get that done in the next few days. As for who it will be, I'll let that be a surprise. Hopefully I can have something out for you guys over this weekend.
